What the Black Wall Is — And What It Is Not
The Black Wall was introduced to the community this weekend as a new civic accountability system designed to measure whether policies, investments, and political decisions are improving conditions in Black communities.
During the discussion, some elected officials raised concerns about grades they received.
We welcome that discussion.
The Black Wall is not designed to attack individuals.
It is designed to measure outcomes.
Every grade is based on publicly available data including:
• policies introduced
• funding decisions
• investments in Black communities
• measurable outcomes in housing, education, health, and public safety
The purpose of the Black Wall is simple:
To move political conversations away from rhetoric and toward results.
If any elected official would like to review the grading criteria or submit additional data related to policies or investments that improve Black conditions, the Black Wall welcomes that review.
Accountability should be transparent, fair, and measurable.
That is the purpose of the Black Wall
