As we seek to preserve our history, heritage, legacy, and entitled future here in the Near Eastside, we should also explore all the opportunities possible to expand our footprint in the affairs of government, including through military and federal government service. Public and community service is a hallmark of our being fully recognized as competent stakeholders in our future and strength of our legacy for generational staying-power! With all of the development here and prime real estate offerings, adding a military recruiting station is one component of expansive outreach for careers and opportunities that has thus far been elusive in the plans to enrich the lives of residents. We require more than just housing development and "sideline cheering of all that is proposed to make us feel included by others who supposedly recognize the potential for us!" We should not have to go outside of this community to learn of these opportunities! Early retirement, secure economic, financial, and higher than high school or GED educational opportunities and top level security clearances are all immediate benefits of military, and or public service. Let's have more of the conversations necessary to add this goodness to the enrichment of the lived experiences in our space!
