“Preserving The Legacy" is the narrative that lights the fire of the entitled presence, heritage, and longevity of culture in the Near Eastside! Also known as "Bronzeville" since being officially established in 1937, this community has an audacious responsibility to preserve its legacy for generational staying-power! This is an African-American community, period! As such, the Near Eastside must be a mandate of cultural preservation, all-important revitalization, and on-going strengthening of the fabric of our culture, specifically for our immediate benefit! None of this should happen at the behest of cultural infusion or "band-wagon” multiculturalism. "Our cultural significance and preservation is not a kumbaya moment in history!" Our future here is of audacity and tenacity; this is the only way forward! We are now the "ancestrial" forces that future generations will reflect upon and celebrate as having not lost sight of the entitled and important presence of Black history, heritage, and culture in this established geographical space of the Near Eastside!
