THE BLACK WALL — RHETORIC RECEIPTS
WHAT THEY SAID. WHAT THEY DID. WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
Two receipts we're following in Columbus and Ohio:
📍 COLUMBUS: FLOCK CAMERAS
Columbus City Council member Emmanuel Remy previously said he wanted legislation governing the city's use of Flock license-plate-reader cameras introduced by the end of September.
On September 25, Remy acknowledged that timeline would not be met and did not provide a new date.
THE RECEIPT:
PROMISED TIMELINE ➡️ NOT MET / DELAYED
This follows Mayor Andrew Ginther's September 3 suspension of Columbus' use of Flock cameras after an allegation that a police officer misused the system.
The Columbus Division of Police subsequently issued a Sensor Technology policy addressing safeguards and audits.
Important distinction:
A new police policy is documented action. It is not the City Council legislation that was previously discussed.
We're tracking what happens next.

📍 OHIO: THE GAS-TAX PROPOSAL
The proposed 90-day Ohio gas-tax suspension we've been following has moved from campaign rhetoric toward the legislative process.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy proposed suspending Ohio's gasoline and diesel taxes for 90 days.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton had publicly called for an emergency gas-tax holiday earlier that day.
Ohio House Republicans subsequently announced plans for legislation implementing a 90-day suspension while replacing transportation revenue with other state funding.
Now another documented development:
Gov. Mike DeWine has publicly criticized using Ohio Department of Transportation money to replace the lost gas-tax revenue.
THE RECEIPT:
CAMPAIGN PROPOSAL
⬇️
LEGISLATIVE COMMITMENT
⬇️
FUNDING DISPUTE
⬇️
LEGISLATIVE ACTION PENDING
Here's the important part:
A proposal is not a law.
An announcement is not implementation.
And a press conference is not a result.
That's why Rhetoric Receipts keeps following the story after the cameras leave.
We document the original statements.
We preserve the images and videos.
We examine the legislation and votes.
Then we follow what actually happens.
We're not telling you what to think about the politicians.
We're giving you the receipts so you can decide for yourself.
