RHETORIC RECEIPTS 馃П

THEY MADE THE PROMISE. NOW WE FOLLOW THE ACTION.
Campaign season is full of promises, announcements, photographs, videos and carefully crafted messages.
But what happens after the cameras stop rolling?
The Black Wall is documenting what politicians say, what they show the public, and what actually happens.
TODAY'S RECEIPT: OHIO'S GAS TAX
On September 21, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton called for an emergency Ohio gas-tax holiday.
Later that day, Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy announced a proposal to suspend Ohio's gasoline and diesel taxes for 90 days.
By September 23, Ohio legislative leaders announced plans to bring lawmakers back to Columbus to consider a 90-day gas-tax holiday.
That's where the story gets interesting.
The campaign rhetoric is now approaching an actual legislative decision.
But as of this report, the proposed tax holiday has not become law.
THE QUESTIONS WE'RE TRACKING:
鈻笍 Will lawmakers approve the legislation?
鈻笍 How will the state replace the lost transportation revenue?
鈻笍 How much will Ohio drivers actually save?
鈻笍 Will the savings reach consumers?
鈻笍 What happens when the 90 days expire?
ANOTHER RECEIPT: DATA CENTERS
Both gubernatorial candidates have presented proposals addressing data centers and their effects on Ohio communities.
Acton has called for a conditional moratorium on new data centers unless specified requirements are satisfied.
Ramaswamy has proposed electricity and property-tax benefits for qualifying residents near future data centers.
Neither campaign proposal is currently an enacted Ohio policy.
The Black Wall will follow the legislation, funding, implementation and measurable results.
WE'RE ALSO WATCHING THE IMAGES AND VIDEOS.
A photograph can create an impression.
A video can shape a narrative.
A campaign advertisement can make a promise sound like an accomplishment.
We're examining the original context, dates, statements and documented outcomes behind political messaging.
Because announcing something and accomplishing something are two different things.
THE BLACK WALL IS NOT HERE TO TELL YOU WHO TO VOTE FOR.
We're here to preserve the receipts so you can examine the record yourself.
No disappearing promises.
No confusing announcements with accomplishments.
No replacing measurable results with campaign rhetoric.
THEY CONTROL THEIR MESSAGE.
THE PUBLIC DESERVES ACCESS TO THE RECORD.

A community cannot improve what it refuses to measure.
